Having an account does not give you access to any additional area information, and the only action you could do with an account was to save a list of postcodes, so they were largely useless. As a result, we have decided to phase out accounts, starting in January 2025. Phasing out accounts also has a privacy benefit - all users can use the whole website completely anonymously.
If you need to manage your email subscription preferences, you can already do this from the "Unsubscribe" link included in all emails that StreetCheck sends to you. You do not need an account to manage email preferences.
We will gradually be deleting old accounts, starting with those that have not been accessed in over three years. When we remove an account, we will keep the email preferences (if any) that the user may have had. If the user was signed up for email updates, they will continue to receive those updates, and can change that preference at any time using the email link as described in the previous paragraph.
